Best Ways to Share Your Location When Stranded in Nairobi

Updated: March 2026 • 6 min read • GPS & Dispatch

The fastest roadside help usually comes down to one thing: how clearly you share your location. In Nairobi, estates have multiple gates, malls have service entrances, and highways have exits and service lanes — so “I’m near…” is often not enough.

Option 1: Google Maps pin (recommended)

Drop a pin on your exact spot and share the link. This is the most reliable method for dispatch. Follow the step-by-step guide here: How to share a Google Maps pin.

Option 2: Live location

If you’re moving slowly (for example, rolling to a safer shoulder), live location helps the provider track you. Once you stop, share the final pin.

Option 3: Landmark + road + direction

If you have no data, share a clear landmark name (petrol station, mall, junction) plus road name and your direction: “on Mombasa Road toward town, after…” or “on Thika Road toward Ruiru, before…”

What to include in your message

  • Location pin / landmark
  • Vehicle type
  • Issue (battery, tire, towing, recovery)
  • Any risks (night, rain, stuck in lane)
